How the chiropractic office directory works

Directory data through August 16, 2026

What the directory is for

ChiropracticMatch uses public records and confirmed official websites to help people identify local chiropractic offices with a usable online destination. Listings are informational. Inclusion, order, or sponsorship does not mean ChiropracticMatch recommends an office or has evaluated care quality or suitability.

Public data sources

Provider names, chiropractic taxonomy codes, practice addresses, phone numbers, NPI status, and reported license information come from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services National Plan and Provider Enumeration System, commonly called NPPES. City and ZIP-area coordinates come from the 2025 U.S. Census Bureau Gazetteer files.

The current public-record snapshot is nppes-2026-08-16-census-2025. It contains 11,838 distinct practice-location records available to the 1,000-city directory. A separate, reproducible office snapshot groups those records into 11,236 office identities, including 2,501 with a current confirmed website.

Which offices appear in the main list

A main result requires an active chiropractic NPI record, a usable street address and phone number, and a healthy HTTPS official website matched to the office identity and location. The website check must be no more than 35 days old. Records with stale addresses or unresolved identity conflicts are not shown in the main list.

A confirmed website is evidence that the office has a current consumer-facing destination. It is not proof of licensure, clinical quality, insurance participation, availability, or suitability for a particular person.

How office records are grouped and ordered

NPI records sharing the same complete address and compatible phone are grouped into one office result. An approved claimed practice name is preferred, followed by an organization NPI name and then a solo practitioner name. The associated NPI members remain visible inside each office's public-record details.

Each city can show up to ten confirmed offices within an approximate 25-mile radius. Results are not padded with unconfirmed or distant records. The organic order is deterministic:

  1. Exact-city practice records before nearby records.
  2. Primary chiropractic taxonomy before secondary chiropractic taxonomy.
  3. Shorter approximate distance from the city center.
  4. More complete public records.
  5. Provider or practice name as a stable tie-breaker.

Distances use Census coordinates and are approximate. For unusual municipal boundaries where the Census place point is far from the populated area, the generator uses the median of exact-city Census ZIP-area centroids and records that adjustment in the snapshot.

Listing photos, claim status, provider-supplied details, and payment do not influence the organic order.

Additional active NPI records

Active records without a confirmed official website, and records whose website identity remains ambiguous, appear in a separate collapsed section. They are excluded from the main map and ItemList structured data so they are not presented as equivalent to confirmed consumer-ready offices.

Records with a stale address are withheld entirely until the location is corrected. An office can move into the main list after an approved claim or reviewed website correction passes the same identity and freshness checks.

Important limitations

CMS states that issuing an NPI does not validate licensure or credentials. An active NPI is not proof that a license is current, an office is accepting patients, a service is offered, or insurance will cover care. ChiropracticMatch does not publish ratings or infer clinical quality from these records.

Contact an office and the appropriate state licensing board to confirm current information. Seek urgent medical evaluation when symptoms may be serious rather than relying on a directory search.

Listing photos

A verified practice representative or a community member who took a photograph may submit authentic images of a listed location. Every contributor must verify an email address, identify the photographed listing, and confirm that they own the image or can grant permission to publish it. Nothing appears on a listing until it passes manual review.

A listing can display up to five approved images and one cover. Exterior or storefront photos are preferred, followed by reception areas, waiting rooms, general interiors, and professional headshots for solo practitioners. Practice submissions are labeled Photo provided by practice; community submissions display the contributor's chosen public name. Approved files are resized, converted to WebP, and stripped of embedded metadata.

Stock images, copied Google or website images, patients, treatment scenes, medical records, promotional graphics, watermarks, visible license plates, and unrelated locations are not accepted. Visitors can report a published image for location, privacy, content, or copyright concerns. When no approved image is available, the listing retains its branded initials mark. Photo availability never affects organic order.

Official practice websites

A Website action appears only after ChiropracticMatch reviews an official practice site against the public listing. Review requires a matching phone number and location, or a strong match across the practice or provider identity and street address. Search results, social profiles, directory aggregators, parked domains, and unrelated office locations are not accepted as official websites.

An approved provider-claimed website takes precedence over an operator-reviewed link. Published links are checked regularly and removed from public view after two failed checks at least seven days apart. The main office list requires a confirmed website, but website availability does not change the ordering signals, photo treatment, NPI status, or clinical claims.

Every listing also includes a Google Maps search built from the public-record provider or practice name and full address. This search is provided as a convenient lookup and does not confirm that Google has a matching Business Profile or that any website shown by Google belongs to the listed office.

Candidate research may use website and contact tags contributed to OpenStreetMap. OpenStreetMap data is available under the Open Database License. A contributed link is only a research lead: ChiropracticMatch still compares the practice identity, address, and phone before a site can be published. Ambiguous identities, shared practice domains, and apparent address changes require a second review. Google Search results are not scraped.

Claims, corrections, and sponsorship

An office may request control of supplemental listing details, but email verification and manual review are required before changes are published. Provider-supplied credentials, insurance statements, and service claims are not accepted without moderation. Accurate organic listings are not removed because an office chooses not to pay.

Future paid placements will be labeled Sponsored and shown outside the confirmed-office list with a nearby statement that the placement is paid. Sponsorship does not change the underlying organic order, and a sponsored office is not shown twice. License review, accepted terms, and an approved destination are required before a campaign can be activated. Photo availability does not influence organic rank.
